The Marketing Mix - Place

We are now on the third part of the blog where we are now doing Place, we are still continuing with the Marketing Mix and half way to finishing all the blogs. Places are the use of business distribution channels where they get their product from the manufacturer to consumer, simply just an appropriate setting in order to sell the products to. This can include:

• a retail store
• an online store or app
• directly from the manufacturer

Again we had to answer questions focused on Places and a few things to know where to sell your products so that it is more visible to the customers or consumers.

I will be using a space where customers can see the shop and have a clear vision of our store, I want a shady area where people can wait patiently while we do the cooking and we don't want the customers to stand in the sun for too long waiting for us to serve them. 

I want our store to be close to a building which is closely meaning by a corner, but I also want that pedestrians can see the shop and not blocked out so we made a big poster so people can read it from a medium distance. People or consumers who walk past will be also our entrance so people can see the product on the table and maybe be interested in the product we are selling. 

My competition will be people who are selling products that's edible and are attracting consumers who have sweet tooth or just like eating sweets quite often, but it wouldn't be quite a competition. It's probably about who we attract, or whether our customers will be satisfied with the quality of my group's product. 

Tsunami - Chemicals & Chaos

 Today in Chemicals & Chaos we have been doing activities relating to Natural Disasters, last week I was going to post a blog about Mount Vesuvius Eruption. Unfortunately, there was a video we were meant to watch unavailable so we skipped that and moved on to 

Tsunami. We first watched a movie about Tsunami and then was given an activity to do about it. The world's tallest tsunami was dreadful, this happened in Alaska in 1958, it was at least 530 meters high.

Task: Create a picto (picture) graph that shows how tall this Tsunami was compared to famous landmarks.

The Marketing Mix - Price

In Business Studies, we have been continuing with the Marketing Mix so we have moved on to the Price. We have already finished the first blog which was Products, Price are business charges that customers for the products or the services. Companies are different from most of each other but the charges may be the same, just the price that will be different. So companies use different strategies to work out the price, some things that can influence price, however, are:

• Competition
• Customer opinions
• Brand image
• Availability

Just like our recent post on Marketing Mix, we had to answer questions focused mainly on the Price and also relating to the products we will sell on Market Day.

One of the questions listed was the price for our product and basically how the charges work, I thought to make the price reasonable and sensible, not too expensive or not too cheap. There was a big span of prices but we had to think about our customers and keep them happy with the price so I chose to go with $250, I showed my group and check if they agree with my decision. Once they were all happy with the price and thought that it was cost-effective for the product. We also made it that if they want two of the same product we chose to raise the charge by 50c, of course, there will be a drink we will also sell around $3.50 which is good and could gain potential profit if the day will be very hot and need a cool down.

My company will do their best to make a good profit and make sure that the products we serve to the customers are even so it will be worth their money, if there is a problem on the short resource we will reduce the price down so that it can be acceptable.

The Marketing Mix - Product

Today in Business Studies we have been focusing on Marketing Mix, this will help us recap and tell what we are selling on Market day. We are gonna make a cultural related food that we New Zealanders don't eat daily, so the Marketing Mix we have to do 4 blog posts about Product, Price, Place, Promotion.

We are making Churros & Apple Juice, this will be mainly focused on cultural and Environmental but using reusable cups to put the drink in and reducing the waste of paper or styrofoam cups. The quality of the products we are making have good ratings, this makes it a little more known meaning more people might like the taste of it. The size of the normal churros is approximately 4 inches which are equal to roughly 10 centimetres. It is quite a good size for the product the shape of it also might be a bit bent. We will be serving these products on small tissue paper so they can hold it without getting their hands sticky and etc. I only have a few ingredients for the Churros which are, Butter, Salt, Flour, Vegetable Oil, Eggs & Sugar. For the Apple Juice are Apples, Sugar & a pinch of salt. These products were chosen to be different and let people try things they never usually eat.

Particle Theory and Diffusion

 Introduction: Today we have been learning about Matter/Particle and Diffusion, we learnt the basics of Diffusion about what it is and how it works, we did the same thing with Particle Theory. Let's start with Matter, Matter is anything that has mass or takes up space. Matter is made of particles, particles are small units which make up something, everything that's on Earth is made up of particles. 

There are different states of Matter, those are Solid, Liquid & Gas. These states can change either by adding or removing energy from it, we do this by heating it or cooling it. There is space between all particles, particles are always moving, there are also attractive forces between particles and the temperatures affect the speed at which the particles move. 

Diffusion is the movement of the particles of a high concentration area to a low concentration area, it usually happens in liquid and gases because their particles are always moving around since both states have no fixed shape. Temperatures do affect the particles speed of spread and results will be different.

Particle Theory: Particle Theory explains mostly about the states and changes of possessions in different states of matter.

• All matter is made up of particles.
• All particles in a pure substance are the same.
• There is space between all particles.
• Particles are always moving.
• There are attractive forces between particles.
• Temperature affects the speed at which particles move.

Diffusion: It is when particles move from an area that has high concentration to an area of low concentration. (We have been given an experiment to do about Diffusion.)

Our Aim: To investigate the effect of temperature on the rate of Diffusion.

Hypothesis: I think that hot water will diffuse faster than cold water because I know that heat will make the particles move much faster because it has a lot of energy put into it and it is more likely for it to spread swiftly.

Method:

1. Get 2 plates or cups and put warm water in one, and cold water in the other. Make sure both plates or cups are the same size
2. Get some Potassium Permanganate (KMn04)
3. Put the Potassium Permanganate in both plates or cups in warm and cold water, also make sure they are the same amount put in both cups.  

Conclusion:

My Hypothesis was correct, the warm water made the Potassium Permanganate spread much faster than the cold water. The reason warm water made it spread faster is that it had more energy in it and the particles were moving fast to spread it much more quickly.

Sustainability Project

For a few weeks in Sustainability we had an assignment to make a project that most of us probably enjoyed alot, we had to make a game/app or a website that had to relate to Sustainability. I decided to make a game about it so people can actually physically play it and that it is fun and challenging for them. We did some brainstorming on a doc and planned it all out before making the project, I started on the project and worked my way through. I chose to go with sea pollution inspiration and tried my best to relate it to that specific topic.

I found Sustainability really enjoyable and thrilling because saving Earth is the upmost important thing at the moment since scarcity is becoming a big thing now and pollution. Currently we are doing the best to prevent the pollution happening but it will take more than an year for us to find the solution to this problem, we did a few more lessons on talking about social, economic sustainability. We also did maths a few weeks ago learning about statistics and calculating final results which helped us with sustainability. I am having a fun time in Sustainability class and I don't think I want to change anything. Hope you like the game and have a great day...😄👍

Making a Movie : Film Studies

 Last week we have been working on an awesome task, we had to make a movie about a topic that we can choose, our film should be at least no longer than 30 seconds, any music we will use has to be free so we don't get copyright causing a fine. The film has to include different camera angles/shots and the storyline should make sense to the viewers. 

We first chose to do a basketball type film, this will be a plot where in basketball two competitors will challenge. We kept it simple since we have to do a 30sec movie, there were four members in my team, Myself, Eugene, Gerald, and Jay-c. After choosing our topic we had to make a storyboard that will show our plot for the film. 

Afterwards we started recording and following that we finished the recording, right after we started editing the video clips on my mobile. It didn't take too long to edit the whole video, I tried my best to make it 30secs but was 1secs longer. We didn't accomplish the 30secs film but I think we did quite well with the movie itself, my two teammates were a bit annoying and off-task so I had to improvise and change the plot a little and it turned out well.

What was your film about?

Our Film was about Basketball and two Competitors challenging each other.

Something I enjoyed in making my film...?

What I enjoyed most was recording with camera angles and shots included within, it made the movie more interesting and I loved editing.

Something I learned when making my film...?

I didn't learn much while making the film because most stuff was pretty basic but I did learn a few camera angles and shots that made the movie better.

Some film techniques I included were...?

Close up, Point of View, Long shot, Over the Shoulder and Medium Shot.

Something I found challenging was...?

To be honest I didn't have any problems or anything challenging so I found it pretty easy and fun.

What I would do differently next time...?

The result probably wasn't my best so maybe next time I should add more effects and sound to give it more power.
