Making a paperclip float

Today at science we have been making a paperclip float, we tried and tried and in our third we made it float. Its amazing and how we made it float, we will tell you soon after my short introduction. Okay so we worked for a little time on this experiment, well not much of an experiment. We enjoyed it and you could try it at home. Here is the instructions on how to do it.

  • What you need
  1. Clean dry paper clips
  2. Tissue paper
  3. A bowl of water
  4. Pencil with eraser
  • What you need to do
  1. Fill the bowl with water
  2. Try to make the paper clip float…not much luck, huh?
  3. Tear a piece of tissue paper about half the size of a dollar bill
  4. GENTLY drop the tissue flat onto the surface of the water
  5. GENTLY place a dry paper clip flat onto the tissue (try not to touch the water or the tissue)
  6. Use the eraser end of the pencil to carefully poke the tissue (not the paper clip) until the tissue sinks. With some luck, the tissue will sink and leave the paper clip floating!
Wee also have some of our experiment on floating a paper clip and a sunken paperclip

How it works is that if you drop the paperclip in the water it will sunk. But if you place a half a tissue so like half of a CARR card. Put the tissue in the water slowly onto the waters surface, also slowly put the paperclip onto the tissue. Wait a while, after some seconds use the end of the pencil to make the tissue sunk to the bottom. Don't touch the paper clip and sink the tissue slowly. Once it is about to sink, your paper might float depends on how you did it.

Good luck and have a great weekend😄👍.

Valedictorian Anonymous

Hi guys, today I will tell you about a senior person who posted kind words about classmates on Instagram for nearly a year, I found it shocking and I am happy to share it with you. I also put a link which will take you to a website about him and what he wrote to his classmates. Hope you guys find his comments awesome and have a great day😉👍. Also this is related to smart relationships.

Valedictorian Anonymous

A unknown person anonymously posted kind words about Classmates o Instagram for nearly a year, this person is sure kind about his posts. A high school valedictorian recently revealed that a young boy has been posting these comments to his own classmates. No one never knew until the school revealed it was a young boy. His name is Konner Sauve told some of his classmates that he was secretly posting comments for nearly an entire year on his secret account. Sauve shared over 650 photos of students at East Valley High School in Yakima, Washington which is amazing.

Also forgot to say in the first place Valedictorian means like you have the best grade in school and your the head leadership, I'm sure that's what it means. The messages he sent to his classmates made them pleased and blessed about it. But one day he revealed himself to the whole school, people were shocked. He was awarded in front of the whole school also his parents were there, He told them a speech and they were proud for him.

Blobs in a Bottle

Today at science we have been making blobs in a bottle, the other name is lava lamp. We followed the instructions on how to make it so once we were finished, we tried taking a photo but there wasn't enough i pads, also another reason is that one of our team mates ruined it and I am disappointed but its OK for me. Anyways we have the instructions and you could try making it at home. I have a few photos of it and I think we can succeed better that this. Hope you enjoy this Friday and have a great weekend.

Resources:
• A clean 1 litre clear soft drink bottle
• 3/4 cup of water
• Vegetable oil
• Antacid tablets (such as Quick-Eze or Mylanta)
• Food colouring
Procedure:

  1. Pour the water into the bottle.
  2. Use a measuring cup to slowly pour the vegetable oil into the bottle until it’s almost full. You may have to wait a few minutes for the oil and water to separate.
  3. Add 10 drops of food colouring to the bottle; the drops will pass through the oil and then mix with the water below.
  4. Break an antacid tablet in half and drop it into the bottle. Watch it sink to the bottom and watch the lava start to flow.
  5. To keep the effect going, just add another piece of antacid tablet.

I like this school because it has so many fun stuff to do like gaming's, science stuff and etc. I am looking forward to learn cool new stuff about things, my teacher Miss Alan is the best and teaches us cool stuff and that's what I like about her. Since we came to this school, our new building was nearly finished and I was excited.

Since the new building is finished everyone is enjoying it but the construction people are not yet finished with the landscape. I am looking forward to seeing it finished and I think I am gonna have a blast this year. That's all about me and the school, Bye.

So we put these ingredients in a plastic zip bag, those ingredients are above, I enjoyed it but I did not enjoy tasting it, it tasted bitter, sour, soapy and etc. I have a picture of my sherbet in a plastic zip , try it home and I hope you like it, Also have a great weekend😎👍.

Bunsen Burner Testing

Today we are working on testing the Bunsen burner which looks like a chimney but it looks like the one that's at the centre have a look. Oh its a science tool that we melt and burn things and we are in the lab doing it so this is what we are doing. Hope you like my work and have a great holiday😊✊.

Aim: learn about the safe use of a Bunsen Burner and get a Bunsen Burner Licence.

Equipment:
  1. Bunsen Burner
  2. Bunsen Burner sheet The Bunsen Burner

Method:
  1. In threes you need to set up a bunsen burner.
  2. You must have turns while the others check to see you are correct.
  3. Work your way through the sheet together checking off the tick
Complete the checklist with someone else.

What are the 6 parts of a Bunsen Burner? Collar, Barrel, Air hole, Gas pipe and the Base.

1.Nozzle
2.Barrel
3. Air hole
4. Collar
5.Gas pipe
6.Base

What are the two main types of flame?Blue and Orange

Which flame is the hottest and why? Blue-Its got less oxygen and the range flame has more oxygen.

Which type of flame is:

 - used for heating? Orange

 - is called the safety flame?Orange

- would be the most visible?Blue

- Cause soot to form?Orange

What is the correct order?Blue

1. Turn on the gas
2. light the Bunsen
3. Close the Airhole
4. Light the match
Always wear safety glasses when using a Bunsen burner
