Bunsen Burner Testing

Today we are working on testing the Bunsen burner which looks like a chimney but it looks like the one that's at the centre have a look. Oh its a science tool that we melt and burn things and we are in the lab doing it so this is what we are doing. Hope you like my work and have a great holiday😊✊.

 Aim: learn about the safe use of a Bunsen Burner and get a Bunsen Burner Licence.

Equipment:
  1. Bunsen Burner
  2. Bunsen Burner sheet The Bunsen Burner

Method:
  1. In threes you need to set up a bunsen burner.
  2. You must have turns while the others check to see you are correct.
  3. Work your way through the sheet together checking off the tick
Complete the checklist with someone else.

What are the 6 parts of a Bunsen Burner? Collar, Barrel, Air hole, Gas pipe and the Base.

What are the two main types of flame?Blue and Orange

Which flame is the hottest and why? Blue-Its got less oxygen and the range flame has more oxygen.

Which type of flame is:

 - used for heating? Orange

 - is called the safety flame?Orange

- would be the most visible?Blue

- Cause soot to form?Orange

What is the correct order?Blue

1. Turn on the gas
2. light the Bunsen
3. Close the Airhole
4. Light the match
Always wear safety glasses when using a Bunsen burner
